Day to day, we face offers to join new initiatives, receive more training, explore new aspects of life, and so much more. While the prospects of expanding our minds proves attractive, these opportunities dually present our lives with greater degrees of responsibility. Striking a balance between partaking in meaningful activities and still enjoying our lives remains tricky to locate. Despite our good intentions, and the guidance of RastafarI, we often find ourselves between a rock and a hard spot. Do we sacrifice our own relaxation for the better of others, or in valuing ourselves, lose sight of the necessities for others?
We must channel our focus inwards. Nobody else in our lives can or will look out for ourselves in the same way in which we are capable of. Therefore, in watching out for ourselves, we can ensure our own mental stability by limiting our responsibilities. However, we must both listen to ourselves and really recognize when we can take on more, for the sake of others. When we serve others, as RastafarI urges us to, we gain humility and respect for those which we meet along the way. In striking a balance, we receive the best of both worlds. Yet when we tip the scale to either too much responsibility or too little, we lose sight of the real us- the one which RastafarI works to reveal from within.
